Vincent believes that healthy therapy leads to a healing encounter between a person’s Self and God. Many conceive of therapy as a means of fixing behaviors or resolving problems, but Vincent’s experience is that effective therapy is really about healing relationships, first in one’s inner world, then one’s external world. As relationships heal, behaviors change naturally, and your innate virtues, gifts, and talents find their place harmoniously working to their proper ends, according to Nature and alignment with the Divine.
Vincent lives in rural Northern Virginia with his wife and youngest daughter. The father of six children and seven grandchildren, Vincent works primarily with younger clients, bringing with him years of experience in Church ministries and Catholic education. After high school, Vincent spent almost five years in a contemplative monastic community but discerned out of the monastery before making final vows.
As a graduate of Thomas Aquinas College and Divine Mercy University, Vincent’s clinical practice and personal work are infused with a deep love and respect for the intellectual patrimony of the Church. His monastic experience taught him many things, and his current priestly clients have told him that his understanding of the struggles with surrendering to the Evangelical Counsels helps them feel like their situation is understood and validated. Vincent deeply believes that healthy therapy leads to a deep encounter with God’s Kingdom within.
Much as Socrates called himself a “midwife” to knowledge, Vincent prefers to think about his role in the therapeutic relationship as the midwife to healing. Vincent’s primary modality is Internal Family Systems (IFS), which holds that the person’s Self is the healer. In working with Vincent, you will discover that you already have everything you need inside of yourself; there are just parts of you blocking access to your innate ability to navigate the distractions and troubles that the abnormal conditions of the modern project. Many clients report finding healing from the very first session of working with Vincent, as he guides you in practical, experiential navigation of your inner world.
Vincent has hobbies of writing and woodworking, and recently published a children’s book, Ginger Befriends her Monster, about integrating Internal Family Systems therapy and family life. He sees clients from Virginia in his office in Leesburg or via telehealth.
