Dr. Penelope Harris is a keen listener and sees adult patients with hematology, oncology (not on IV chemo), palliative care, hospice, and primary care needs, with an interest in functional root cause medicine, and loves to help patients find healing for body and soul. She is happy to help find answers to complex cases, and prefers a natural approach to health, working with the body according to God’s design and de-escalating prescription medications when able. She has experience caring for cancer patients interested in the use of alternative and integrative options in addition to conventional cancer care and has volunteered with a local pregnancy resource center to offer initial abortion pill reversal services.
After a biology degree from Drake University in Des Moines, IA, and medical school at St Louis University in St Louis, MO, on Army scholarships, she went on to complete her military training in internal medicine with a fellowship in hematology and oncology, working throughout the US and two tours in Germany. After 14 years of active duty, she served six years in academia (and the USAR) until changes in medicine during COVID prompted her to join a private practice to offer care independently according to her conscience before finally settling into telemedicine near extended family thanks to the help of MyCatholicDoctor. She and her husband have five beautiful children. She loves sunshine and the water, hearing people’s stories, simple country wisdom, growing medicinal plants, and watching the sunset. She has been a member of the Catholic Medical Association and is in love with the angels and the saints.
