About

Joseph is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia. He entered the field of mental health after spending over a decade in seminary formation discerning the priesthood. From that time in his life, he gained an appreciation for the role of individual accompaniment. Joseph sees counseling as a form of accompaniment through the inevitable personal and interpersonal challenges of life.

Joseph’s clinical training largely focused on addressing the core wounds that negatively impact one’s life. Through acceptance, emotional processing, cognitive reframing, and discovery of new coping strategies, individuals are often able to get “unstuck,” reach new levels of insight, and acquire the skills to navigate future challenges.

Joseph’s clinical approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) from person-centered and trauma-informed perspectives.
