Dr Pierucci is a board-certified neonatologist and pediatrician and has a masters in medical ethics. She has published and speaks nationally about a range of beginning-of-life issues, including perinatal palliative care. During her 25+ years of clinical practice and being the medical director of a level III NICU and regional referral center, she has led performance improvement projects to improve the care of opiate exposed babies, reduce BPD through increased use of nasal CPAP, and helped in the multi-year project “All Care is Brain Care.”
Given the intrinsic value of every conceived child and the fact that a prenatal diagnosis is not equivalent to a post-natal prognosis, Dr Pierucci has developed a service to accompany parents who have received news of a prenatal diagnosis. The goal is to first help the parents recover from the trauma of diagnosis day and then, backed by research-informed data and years of experience, assist parents to determine what should or should not ethically and medically be offered to their unique child.
