About

Deacon John Fredette is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, a husband, a father of six, and an ordained permanent deacon in the Diocese of San Diego. His life and work are deeply rooted in faith, family, and service. He brings a compassionate, grounded approach to therapy that honors the whole person in body, mind, and spirit.

Throughout his career, Deacon John has had the privilege of supporting individuals and families facing grief, addiction, relationship struggles, and other personal challenges. He is committed to meeting people where they are (emotionally, spiritually, and personally) and helping them move toward healing, growth, and a more meaningful life.

His ministry experience includes serving the incarcerated, the homeless, the terminally ill, and children and families at Rady Children’s Hospital. These encounters have deepened his understanding of human suffering, resilience, and the transformative power of compassion.

Deacon John provides individual, couples, and family therapy tailored to each person’s unique needs, whether they are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, or life transitions.

His therapeutic approach integrates evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Gottman Couples Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered Therapy, Positive Psychology, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and trauma-informed care. For those who desire it, he also incorporates spirituality and prayer as powerful tools for healing and transformation.

Deacon John believes that every day holds the potential for hope and renewal. His mission is to walk alongside clients as they move toward greater wholeness in body, mind, and spirit.
