About

Dr. Paris is a licensed clinical psychologist (Virginia) who provides psychotherapy services to adults experiencing a wide variety of challenges. He specializes in trauma-focused modalities (EMDR, Cognitive Processing Therapy) and particularly enjoys working with young adults as well as couples seeking to deepen their marital bond. Dr. Paris has experience working in a variety of settings, including community mental health agencies, university counseling centers, psychiatric hospitals, and employee assistance programs within the U.S. intelligence community. He completed his pre-doctoral internship at the Gulf Coast VA Medical Center in Biloxi, MS. His doctoral dissertation examined the effectiveness of a media fast on the smartphone habits, well-being, and interpersonal competence of emerging adults.

Dr. Paris views the goal of therapy as not mere symptom remission but as an opportunity to heal relationships with God and others, grow in virtue, and discover newfound freedom to live out our vocations with integrity. In short, Dr. Paris desires to help others become who God is calling them to be.

Dr. Paris is deeply committed to the integration of a Catholic vision of the person with mental health treatment. In addition to master’s and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from Divine Mercy University, he also holds a master’s in theology from the Augustine Institute and has over a decade of experience in the formation of Catholic missionaries with the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS). Though he never imposes his beliefs, he is happy to discuss issues of faith with those clients who desire it.

In addition to being a psychologist, Dr. Paris is a husband and father of three young boys. When he is not serving as a jungle gym for his children, he enjoys board games, fireside philosophical discussions, and ultimate frisbee.
