About Dr. Phelps

Clarissa Phelps, MD, is an authentic “coal miner’s daughter” from Kentucky. She attended the University of Louisville receiving her BA and MD. She was the first in her family to graduate from college. She completed her residency in Family Medicine at the University of Southern Illinois – Carbondale in 2005. She is a member of the American Academy of Family Practice and is Board Certified in Family Medicine since 2005. Her initial experience was practicing traditional family medicine with urgent care in rural Kentucky. She treated a diverse population of long-time residents and multicultural immigrants. In 2012, she began working as a medical officer for the Department of Veteran’s Affairs serving for 8 years.
