About

Cherie Spellman has over 10 years of experience in the counseling field and is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Supervisor, serving clients in Texas, Colorado, Kansas, and Oklahoma. With over a decade of experience, she offers an integrative, faith-informed approach to healing, blending the best of psychological science with the timeless truths of the Catholic faith. Her therapy style is deeply attuned, compassionate, and grounded in clinical training and spiritual wisdom. She helps with anxiety and depression, chronic pain and chronic illness, highly sensitive person traits, trauma, stress, life transitions, guilt and shame, counseling for teens and adults, and perinatal mental health.

In her practice, Cherie uses body-based and trauma-informed modalities such as Brainspotting, Internal Family Systems, Somatic Processing, and EFT (Tapping), always guided by an understanding of how beautifully and intricately God has created us. She’s seen firsthand how the mind-body-spirit connection can unlock healing in powerful ways—helping people reduce anxiety, release stored trauma, find their voice, and rediscover joy in their lives.

Many clients come to her after trying traditional therapy and still feeling stuck. They often say, “I never really got to the root of the issue before,” or “I feel like I can finally breathe again.” She considers it an honor to walk alongside them as they unearth the deeper layers of their story, find lasting relief, and begin to live more freely and fully.

Whether supporting individual adults or teens, Cherie helps clients build self-worth, release shame and guilt, and reconnect with themselves and others in authentic, life-giving ways. She believes that therapy should be a place where people feel safe, seen, and supported as they learn to befriend themselves and live with greater intention.

Her Catholic faith is central to her life and practice. Deeply influenced by the saints—especially St. Teresa of Ávila and other mystics—Cherie integrates prayer, meditation, and a sacramental view of the human person into her work. She sees therapy not just as treatment, but as a sacred space where God’s healing grace is made tangible through love, presence, and truth.

Her professional journey began in casework, supporting individuals with severe mental illness and substance abuse. She later served for four years at Catholic Charities, focusing on women’s mental health, pregnancy, postpartum, and loss, including post-abortion healing. She also worked extensively with children, teens, and adults in school and clinical settings.

As the former Coordinator for Survivors of Sexual Abuse with the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, Cherie has a heart for trauma work and a strong commitment to providing safe, effective, and compassionate care to those who have been deeply wounded. Since 2017, she has been in private practice, serving individuals, couples, teens, and children, and has recently expanded her practice to the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
