Karen D. Poehailos, M.D.

Dr. Poehailos is a family physician and mother of four young adult sons. She is a Certified FertilityCare Medical Consultant (CFCMC) providing services in Natural Procreative (NaPro) Technology. Additionally, Dr. Poehailos is trained as a FEMM (Fertility Awareness and Medical Management) Medical Provider. She is consulted by women with concerns about irregular cycles, infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss, PMS and unusual discharge. Additionally, issues such as fatigue and depression may have their root in hormonal issues, and Dr. Poehailos can work with these patients to help identify and treat these underlying concerns. The goal of care is to help you obtain optimal health.

Dr. Poehailos is board certified in Family Medicine.

After graduating from Towson State University, she received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Virginia in 1989 and completed a Family Medicine residency at University of Virginia in 1992. After residency, Dr. Poehailos practiced in Pennsylvania for four years, and has been practicing in Virginia since 1996 working in various urgent care and family medicine settings. Additionally, she has been a medical director, both volunteer and paid staff, for her local pregnancy medical center and has precepted students in the University of Virginia Family Medicine third year medical student rotation.

Dr. Poehailos is a member of the United States Council of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) National Advisory Board for Natural Family Planning. She is a member of the Board of Directors for NIFLA (National Institute of Family and LIfe Advocates) and a member of the Medical Advisory Team for the Abortion Pill Rescue Network.
