James Ulager, M.D., FAAFP

Dr. Ulager is a board-certified family physician with a special interest in addiction care. He lives with his wife and four children outside Burlington, Vermont.  He currently serves as our Medical Director for Addiction Care, and sees patients with concerns about their relationship with substances (including alcohol and tobacco*), as well as behaviors (such as pornography).  *Please note we do not provide care for opiate addiction at this time.

Jim graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1999, then went to medical school at The University of Pennsylvania, where he met his wife. They moved to Vermont in 2004 to complete medical training, and have practiced in the area since. After finishing residency, Jim worked in private practice for three years, then joined the University of Vermont Medical Center as an Assistant Professor and held leadership roles, including Associate Vice President of Clinical Operations, and Physician Lead for Provider Well-being. While tremendously difficult to leave his practice of 14 years, he is very excited to join MyCatholicDoctor, where he also serves as the Chair of our Board of Advisors.
