Annie McKenna is a wife, mother of six children and a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and adjunct faculty at Franciscan University of Steubenville. She has expertise in pediatric, family and adult wellness with over 15 years of experience. She specializes in working with clients throughout the lifecycle including infant nutrition (breastfeeding, growth failure/failure to thrive, picky eaters), childhood (weight management) and adolescent nutrition (FHA and disordered eating), fertility and NFP, pregnancy, and general adult wellness. She enjoys supporting the nutrition needs of the mature woman as well as coaching and guiding those with weight management goals. As a mother of six, she brings with her a practical understanding of the challenges of nutrition and wellness in family life within the current food culture.
After graduating San Diego State University in 1992, Annie continued her education at Rush University in Chicago, IL. Completing a Master of Science degree in Clinical Nutrition in 1994, she then joined The Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore, Maryland where she excelled in pediatric intensive care nutrition and Cystic Fibrosis medical nutrition therapy.
Eventually, Annie and her husband, Kyle, moved south to Emory University where she continued work in Cystic Fibrosis at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. In 2006, she moved to Pittsburgh, PA where she remained a full time mother and Catholic home education advocate. She organized many Catholic home education co-ops and developed a vocation bible school-Maranatha, Come Lord Jesus. By the grace of God, she and her family moved to Steubenville, Ohio in 2014 where her husband is a Professor of Biology at Franciscan University of Steubenville.
Annie enjoys teaching nutrition at Franciscan University of Steubenville as well as working in private practice as a personal nutrition coach for individuals and families.
