About Me

Robert F. Raspa, MD, FAAFP, a board certified family physician, earned his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Fairmont State College in West Virginia. He received his medical degree from West Virginia University in 1982 and completed his internship and family medicine residency training at Naval Hospital Pensacola. He has also earned a Certificate of Added Qualification in Geriatrics.

Raspa is a retired captain in the U.S. Navy and has been a practicing family physician since 1985 and is recently retired from St. Vincent’s Family Medicine Center. He was a past Clinical Associate Professor at Nova Southeastern School of Osteopathic Medicine, and Clinical Assistant Professor at both the Florida State University School of Medicine and University of Florida School of Medicine.

He completed the Creighton NaPro technology course in Omaha Nebraska and is a NaPro consultant.   In the past 10 years Dr. Raspa has been on call for the Abortion Pill Reversal hotline which helps women who have reconsidered to maintain a pregnancy after taking the abortion pill.  He has been highly successful in helping couples achieve pregnancy.

As an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fleming Island, Florida, he is a musician in the choir and a member of the Knights of Columbus.  He has been to Haiti many times and facilitates the church’s charitable program to that country.

Raspa has extensive military and medical teaching experience, serving as a full-time faculty member of a residency program or a medical school since 1986. He was formerly the chairman and program director of the Family Medicine Department and Residency Training Program at Naval Hospital, Jacksonville, from 1997 to 2003. Under his direction, the program grew to be a leader in service, evidence-based medicine and publication production.  Upon military retirement, he went to work at the St. Vincent’s Family Medicine Residency program teaching residents and providing full scope Family Medicine Care including maternity care and deliveries. After retirement from St Vincent’s, he is providing urgent care services in a number of locations.

Raspa has received numerous military honors including the Joint Service Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal (Bronze Star).

Raspa is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. He has the AAFP Degree of Fellow, an earned degree awarded to family physicians for distinguished service and continuing medical education.
