About

Monika Gibbons is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, licensed in Massachusetts, as well as a Board Certified Music Therapist. Monika has more than 20 years of experience treating those dealing with anxiety, depression, ADD/ADHD, dementia, autism, alcoholism, adult children of alcoholics, and childbearing loss. Monika utilizes a Strengths-Based approach, as well as Brief Solution-Focused Therapy. She loves to incorporate Logotherapy (Doctor Viktor Frankl) and the Baars/Terruwe model (Doctor Konrad Baars). She sees God as the Great Healer, and likes to participate in the often life-changing therapeutic process with her clients. Monika is skilled in cognitive behavioral techniques, as well as grief processing and family and couples therapy.


Born in central Massachusetts, Monika is the youngest in a large family and grew up speaking German with her Austrian-born mother, and spending time with her large extended Irish American family. Monika studied piano performance at a music conservatory in Austria after high school, and later received her B.A. from Saint Patrick’s University in Maynooth, Ireland. A few years later, she attended Lesley University in Cambridge, MA, and received her M.A. in Mental Health Counseling and Music Therapy in 2003. Monika interned at McLean Hospital and was consequently hired as a therapist and worked there for many years. Monika runs a private practice in central Massachusetts and lives with her husband and children. Her focus is family, Faith, music, and dogs, and she loves to be at Adoration, and traveling in Cape Cod, Ireland, and Italy.
