Marisa is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) who is clinically supervised under Crystal Brashear, Ph.D., LPC-S, for the duration of her associate work. Marisa completed her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Colorado Christian University and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado.

Marisa’s background experience includes a twenty-seven-year career in education. Her love for teaching and helping others reach their full potential carries over to counseling, where she has experience working with a wide range of clients from adolescence into late adulthood. Marisa utilizes a client-centered, collaborative, trauma-informed, and integrative therapeutic approach and will adapt treatment to fit the unique needs of each of her clients.

Marisa’s training includes a variety of techniques and interventions, including eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), IFS-informed parts work, expressive arts therapy, grounding exercises, cognitive behavioral strategies, attachment-based and strengths-based approaches, and sand tray therapy to support clients’ therapeutic needs in ways that resonate with them.

Marisa joined MyCatholicDoctor in 2025 to provide faith-based mental health counseling through telehealth. She also has a private practice located in Allen, TX, offering in-person and telehealth counseling services. Marisa is active in her Catholic church community as a mental health advocate, serving on the Pastoral Care Council and helping facilitate faith-informed courses and spiritual support groups that reduce stigma, promote mental wellness, and integrate spiritual and psychological care within Catholic communities.
