If you are here, perhaps God has permitted you to undergo hardship, perhaps you are simply seeking guidance through a rough patch, or perhaps you want to make a targeted change in your life. Whatever the case, I believe that God is especially close to you in your trials, little and big. He has numbered every hair on your head (Luke 12:7), and He has a plan for you grounded in his eternal love for you. I also believe that God works through others to promote your ultimate wellbeing. I offer my services to you, hopeful to be one of God’s instruments to help you overcome hardship by integrating Catholic teaching and values with exemplary psychological treatment.
As a licensed psychologist for nearly 40 years (I earned my PhD in 1980), I offer extensive professional experience. In addition to providing therapy to individuals, children, adolescents, couples, and families, I have provided services for a wide range of special needs individuals, including persons with developmental disabilities, juvenile felons, those in the military, and others. I founded a psychology practice, which by God’s grace grew from a one-woman office to a group of seven partners in three locations. I developed a highly successful protocol for the treatment of anxiety and panic disorders. I helped to develop the Pre-Canna program at my local Cathedral, which includes using the FOCCUS Program for engaged couples. I have done extensive work with couples and families, employing a faith-based focus on treatment options.
My approach to treatment is tailored towards goal-directed therapy where goals are clearly defined and cooperatively set, and where methods are thoughtfully developed and refined as needed by closely monitoring your progress.
Teletherapy services offered to patients include: Psychological therapy for individuals (children, adolescents and adults), couples, and families; psychological testing and evaluations for intelligence, academic learning, memory, ADHD, autism, psychopathology, and other concerns; fit for duty examinations; and the FOCCUS Program for marriage preparation.
I have been happily married to another psychologist since 1981, Dr. Dennis Noia, who is also on MyCatholicDoctor. We are blessed with wonderful twin sons and a new grandson, on whom I have bestowed the coveted Cuteness of the Year Award. I converted from Judaism to Catholicism in 1990, and am faithful to the Magisterium of the Church.
When appropriate, Dr. Noia and I enjoy working together to provide psychotherapy for couples.
I look forward to working with you! May God bless you.
