Amy Hortie, RN, MMCP

Amy is a Registered Nurse (BScN) and Certified Professional Marquette Method Instructor. She has a passion for Theology of the Body and women’s fertility medicine. She enjoys working with women at all stages of their reproductive lives, including young adults, newly married women, or those new to NFP, regular or irregular cycles, postpartum/breastfeeding, perimenopause, or those navigating complex health challenges.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Trinity Western University in British Columbia, Canada, alongside a Liberal Arts degree through Catholic Pacific College. Her nursing career has included experience in surgical nursing, palliative care, and long-term care.

Amy has experience teaching the Marquette Method using both the Mira Analyzer and Clearblue Advanced Fertility Monitor, with a particular interest in Mira hormone tracking. She also teaches mucus monitoring and BBT or Tempdrop tracking for added cycle data. Her approach to teaching is to make the method work for the individual, not the individual work for the method.

Amy converted to Catholicism at age 19, shortly after a conversation with a friend about Catholic sexual ethics and NFP. She was inspired by the logical consistency of Catholic doctrine and the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. When she isn’t teaching couples, she is busy chasing after her busy toddler!

Natural family planning should be covered pre-deductible and without co-pay in accordance with the Affordable Care Act, equal to birth control coverage, as long as you see a MyCatholicDoctor medical provider that is in network with your insurance and get a referral to a MyCatholicDoctor NFP instructor. Your insurance plan may also require you to obtain a PCP referral. Unfortunately, many insurance carriers inappropriately apply co-pay and deductible for NFP, and inappropriately deny claims. MyCatholicDoctor is fighting this at many levels. If you are billed a co-pay or deductible, or your claim is denied, please contact your insurance company.
